SIX CHARACTERS IN SEARCH OF AN AUTHOR by LUIGI PIRANDELLO
DIRECTED BYMUIREANN WALSH
“LIFE IS FULL OF STRANGE ABSURDITIES, WHICH, STRANGELY ENOUGH, DO NOT EVEN NEED TO APPEAR PLAUSIBLE, SINCE THEY ARE TRUE.“
WHAT HAPPENS when fictional characters walk into a theatre and demand that their story be told?
A rehearsal is interrupted by mysterious strangers claiming to be unfinished characters, desperate to see their story brought to life. But as the actors try to make sense of them, the line between reality and fiction, actor and character, truth and performance begins to disappear…
Funny, unsettling, provocative and wonderfully theatrical, Pirandello’s classic asks: who really owns a story, the author who creates it, or the characters who live it?
