Join Our Premiere Short Play Production Weekend!
We are excited to announce the Village Players’ premiere Short Play Production Weekend, taking place on March 8th & 9th! Over the coming weeks, our three talented directors will be holding open auditions for these unique short plays. We invite actors of all experience levels to come and audition—everyone is welcome!
Audition Details
Auditions will be held at the SSA in Lausanne. Below, you’ll find a summary of each of the three plays, along with the audition dates and contact information for each director. Spots are limited, so please contact the director directly to sign up and secure your place.
Important Note: Actors may audition for any of the short plays but may only accept roles in a maximum of two out of the three productions.
1. The Breakdown by A. Dürrenmatt
Directed by Alessio Siviglia
Synopsis: A salesperson’s car breaks down, forcing them to seek refuge in the villa of a former judge. As other guests arrive, an impromptu trial takes place, blurring the line between reality and pretense in this dark comedy.
Roles Available:
- 4 actors of any gender/age
- 3 male actors

2. Note to Sixth-Grade Self by Julie Orringer
Directed by Tristan Pannatier
Synopsis: A woman revisits her 12-year-old self during a challenging time of school bullying and longing for acceptance. Through guidance from her adult self, she hopes her past might take a different path. But can the past be changed, or is she only there to come to terms with it?
Roles Available:
- 1 adult woman
- 3 teenage girls or young women
- 1 teenage boy or young man

3. The Proposal by Anton Chekhov
Directed by Alexandra Shelest
Synopsis: A landowner visits his neighbor with the intention of proposing to his daughter, but what should be a straightforward proposal spirals into a series of arguments and misunderstandings. Despite the chaos, champagne is called for—will they eventually get to the point?
Roles Available:
- 1 female (acting age 30 or under)
- 1 male (acting age 50 or over)
